  WEkigai is a Family owned and run company based in the Netherlands. It is founded and run by a wife-husband couple, who have background in science and engineering. We aim to use our background to make everyday life a bit easier, healthier and happier for ourselves and hopefully for you. Our name is inspired by the Japanese life philosophy of ikigai which provides a purpose that combines our passion, mission, profession and vocation.

  How did you come up with the idea for LoafNest?

  We created LoafNest in our endeavor as a family to eat healthy and tasty everyday. We did not want to consume industrially produced bread with additives and preservatives. Artisan breads with trusted ingredients were hard to find and home baking was hit-and-miss for a busy young family.

  We loved no-knead method for its simplicity and rich flavors of slow fermented bread. Using our science and engineering thinking, we made it even simpler and reliable. Thus, LoafNest was born to solve our own problem of easy bread making that fits our rhythm. We presented LoafNest to the Kickstarter community in 2018 who helped us launch it commercially. Since 2018, we have brought smiles to thousands to our products like LoafNest bread kit, Panache Griddle Pan and inTune Precision baker.

  We make products that we want to use ourselves. So we make no compromise on quality, safety, functionality and aesthetics. For example, it was important for silicone that it would stay safe at high temperatures of bread making. We ended up partnering with Sasa Demarle in France (inventors and makers of famous Silpat baking mats) using their experience and quality control for LoafNest liner. Similarly, we went to the best possible quality for LoafNest cast iron dutch oven with a reputed supplier in China who also manufactures for several leading brands in US and Europe. We have kept similar high standards through our journey.
